Common Types
Duckbill -
Simplest design pliers, two flat edges sometimes
with a gripping pattern.
Slip Joint -
Multiple groove joints that allow the pliers to
adjust size to fit an object. Often referred
to by the most common manufacturer Channellock.
Locking - Fine
adjustment knob and locking mechanism allows this
pliers to firmly grip an object. Often
referred to by the most common manufacturer
Vise-Grip.
Lineman -
Heavy duty cutter
usually multipurpose tool with a pliers end.
Long handles allow for greater force to be exerted
on the object being cut. Useful for cutting
small fasteners, heavy wire, or cable.
Needlenose -
Long narrow end allow access to tight areas.
These usually do not allow great gripping force.
Snap Ring -
Used for spreading or compressing snap type rings. |
