WAY back in the 70’s Jeep was looking at a special Jeep for 1976 to celebrate America’s bicentennial. The early 70’s CJ’s featured a Super Jeep model that came in a red, white, and blue version, this seemed a natural fit for the 76 year. Unfortunately the expense to build this Jeep was too much for American Motors and only 10 Jeeps were built and only 3 are believed to exist today. Sources indicate that one of the ten was special ordered by a Jeep employee with a 401 AMC V8 (drool-drool)
The Jeep’s specs…
- 304 AMC V8, 2bbl carburetor
- T-150 3 speed transmission
- 3.54 axle ratio
- Power steering, A/C
- Tach, clock
- Roll bar
- Levis top, seats, and dash pad
- Dual rear fuel gerry cans
- 11-15 Formula Desert Dog PCV tires
