Protection - Gloves
There are probably 1000 types
and variations of protective gear for your hands. We
are only going to mention the kind you might use in your
garage on or with your Jeep. Grinding, cutting,
sanding, heat, and welding are all in the list of things we
might do along with some winter wheeling. All of these
things require a good set of gloves.

Types
Work
Gloves - These are your average work glove that
you may use for general purposes around the house,
yard, and garage. These gloves provide medium
safety and heat resistance. Generally these
gloves are not very form fitting so performing small
work may be cumbersome or impossible. Usually
these gloves have a longer wrist collar that
provides protection to your lower arm and wrists.
Mechanics
Gloves - Form fitting and providing good heat
resistance separate these from average work gloves.
The tight fitting nature of these gloves allows them
to be used when threading smaller bolts and using
hand tools. Their heat resistance make them a
good choice when working on hot engine or underneath
a vehicle with hot exhaust. The prominent
manufacturer of these type of gloves is Mechanix
brand gloves. (left)
Welding
Gloves - Shown on the right, this particular
kind of glove is designed to withstand the high heat
associated with welding and torching. Almost
always, welding gloves have a long collar area to
protect the welder's forearms and wrists.
Often constructed of cowhide and sewn with kevlar.

up items.
