Unlike a tap and die set a
rethread set is used to cleanout or repair
old existing threads on nuts and bolts.
When we work on our Jeeps we are bound to
encounter rusty, muddy, or greasy nuts and
bolts. When reusing them it is a good
idea to run a rethreader through them to
true up the threads.
This is
especially true when working on
welded in nuts such as ones found on
a frame or threaded holes inside an
engine.
Clean
threads will extend the life of the
fastener and allow it to be
assembled / disassembled faster with
less effort.
