With the lockers and gears installed into the axles the next step was to start putting everything together. Since this project included a 3″ lift from Teraflex it all happened at once. The control arms were installed and the axles lined up and mounted to them. From there the springs, shocks and other components were installed.
The Currie steering gear and Teraflex sway bar disconnects were installed followed by Heavy Duty ARB differential covers. These bright red covers stick out nice under the Jeep and the thick construction provides great protection to the gears and differential.
After all the components are back together gear oil is added to both differentials and this part of the job is complete.
At this point many hours of work has passed but we are far from finished. Some interesting things popped up along the way in this project, notably the rear parking brakes were a disaster and required a full rebuild (more on that coming up).
The next phase of the Air Locker install involves installing the Air Compressor, Air Lines and Switches. All of that coming up soon.
