We are getting somewhere. The final steps are wiring up the winch and installing the bumper skid plate. Wiring the winch can be a bit of a challenge since there is little room. We found removing the air box made accessing a nice path for the wires easier.
The winch should be wired direct to the JL main battery. The battery does have sufficient terminal attachment spots that will work. Use wire ties to secure the wiring.
Since the Warn mount moves the bumper about 1/4 inch forward it is easier to install the bumper skid place after elongating the two rear holes in the skid.
After enough clearance is obtained install the skid plate.
Wrapping it up
At this point it’s a matter of installing the winch hook and and dealing with any particulars specific to your Jeep. We added a Warn bumper hoop to our installation to add some protection and style to the front of the Jeep. This was installed in a few minutes by removing the 6 torx bolts and reinstalling with the hoop.
The VR series winch fits nicely within the Jeep’s bumper and the hoop just adds some extra flair. The finished installation is perfect.
