Continuing from page 1 we are installing a 2.5″ spacer lift from Rough Country on our 2018 Wrangler JL. At this point the front springs were removed and it’s time to get the new components installed.
Place the spacer over the bumpstop tube along with the original isolator. Position the top of the spring into the isolator and secure the bumpstop extension to the spring to hold it in place while the lower part of the spring is placed on the mount. If you leave out the stop it’s near impossible to get in place without removing the spring. Depending on how low the axle is you may need to use a prybar to get the spring onto the lower mount. With the spring in place bolt the bumpstop extension to the lower spring perch. It may be necessary to unbolt the passenger side brake line bracket that is attached below the spring perch. This will allow access to the nut on the bottom of the bumpstop extension.
Gently raise axle to allow the springs to support the weight of the Jeep. Do not go all the way to raise the Jeep.
Install the new Rough Country swaybar links and lower shock extension mounts. It may be necessary to lower/raise the axle to bolt up the shocks. The shocks are nitrogen filled and will extend fully when not mounted. Compressing them by hand is difficult. At this point everything but the track bar should be attached. Tighten everything up and replace the tires. Raise the Jeep to remove the supports and allow the Jeep to sit on it’s own weight. Attaching the track bar is easiest with a helper. The helper will sit inside and steer the wheel gently to allow the track bar bolt to line up. Tighten to listed spec.
