This simple addition to your JL comes in handy in so many ways whether it’s holding your lunch, gear or tools. The Mopar JL Tailgate Table installs in about 30 minutes and neatly folds away when not in use. Luckily the Jeep engineers thought ahead and equipped the JL tailgate with threaded holes just waiting to be used by all kinds of accessories. Installation
Pay attention to the directions, there seems to be two possible tailgate options. Pick the one for your Jeep. The install starts by gently removing the tailgate cover. There are special tools for this but a wide screwdriver works well. Be gentle and even. The cover is held in place with snap clips that come out easy but can be broken.
Four holes need to be drilled into the cover. There are dimples on the back side of the cover for the lower holes and the upper holes have sleeves that the drill can follow. The drill size is 14mm which is approximately 1/2.
With the holes drilled the cover is placed back on the tailgate and sleeves are installed to mount the fixed part of the table. Pay attention to the sleeve sizes, they vary by location.
Install the fixed part of the table using the proper sized screws for each hole. Install the tray table with the bolts and nylon bushings. Connect the cables to the table.
With the install complete make sure the retaining clips work and enjoy the table!
