Question: Topic – Transfer Case Swap

Question: I have an 2003 Jeep Liberty with a Command-Trac transfer case. I’d like to know if I can swap in a Select-Trac to gain full-time 4WD? Dave, RI

Answer: Yes, this is a relatively easy swap. Both cases share the same bolt pattern and input splines. Driveshafts will be the same too and should bolt right up. One problem will be the shifter. The original shifter will work but will not show the correct indicators when using full-time. It may be possible to find a shifter from a Select-Trac equipped Liberty and swap that too.
