Question: Based on my VIN number and the info you have here on this site my 1977 CJ-7 DOES NOT EXIST! Here is the VIN as it came off of my dash panel labled VIN J7AP3EHXXXXXX (edited) I also looked under the hood and found a metal tag labled Toledo Jeep plant that has the same number. I believe I have a Levi Golden Eagle CJ-7 if this is the case HOW can I tell for sure, it has the GE decals and options as well as the Levi interior…
Thanks John
Answer: Well John, inconsistency was AMC’s middle name, often times parts and other items on Jeeps varied so I can’t explain your VIN. As far as the question of “A true Golden Eagle” the VIN never reflected that kind of detail in a Jeep. The only true way of knowing would be by the original build sheet and/or the dealer window sticker. The Golden Eagle did have some options that weren’t found normally on a standard model but were available as options.
Besides, does it really matter if it’s true or not? Without seeing it and from what you say it probably is authentic.
